Come stay at Stonehedge Lodge or The Carriage House
Enjoy a private retreat surrounded by wilderness,
bird song, spectacular sunsets, and stargazing!
Stonehedge Lodge is situated on 150 feet of shoreline on pristine Lake Kiwassa, which is part of the Saranac chain of lakes, accessible by the locks to Lower Saranac. Residents still drink the pure water which is also home to loons, blue heron, otter & mink. Bass and pike are a frequent catch off our dock which provides excellent swimming, reading or sunbathing. Private dock mooring for boat up to 20 feet, and a convenient public boat launch nearby. Canoe available for our guests.
We are nestled in the midst of the high peaks range for short or challenging hiking. Winter season tempts you with ice fishing and cross country skiing on the frozen Lake Kiwassa or nearby ski trails. Saranac Lake's Winter Carnival (Feb 4 - 13th, 2006) is the oldest continuing winter carnival in the nation. Each year, the Ice Palace is constructed from 13 " ice blocks carved from Lake Flower. Fireworks open and close the week of celebration. This year's parade theme is "Roaring Twenties."
We are 15 minutes from Lake Clear Airport - flights by Comut Air/Continental Express (SLK locator code). There are direct flights from Boston, Albany and Burlington. By car, we are 2 1/2 hours from Albany, Burlington and Montreal. The Olympic Village of Lake Placid is a 7 mile drive - with downhill skiing at Whiteface Mountain or cross country trails.
